Every three years, the Minnesota Women of Today membership votes on an organization that we make our Priority Area. This programming area then encourages members to become educated about the Priority Area organization and coordinate fundraising efforts to support it. In the past, our Priority Areas have included Can-D-Canines, March of Dimes, and the Jacob Wetterling Foundation. Our current priority area is:
Isaac’s Journey Foundation
The Isaac's Journey...were HOPE begins" foundation was launched in January 2008. Isaac's Foundation developed from the passing of cancer patient Isaac Matthew Lieser (June 22, 2005-January 23, 2008). Isaac's Foundation is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization operated 100% by volunteers with Zero administrative cost and ZERO employees. Since the Isaac's Foundation began in January of 2008, the Foundation has donated more than $75,000 to the University of Minnesota to strictly fund Childhood Cancer Research. Please check out their website to read Isaac’s story.
The mission of Isaac’s Journey Foundation is to educate and raise awareness of Childhood Cancer and help fund research projects. They hope to change cure rates for our future generation as every advancement in curing childhood cancer has come through research.
Childhood Cancer to date remains the #1 Disease Killer of America’s Children and yet remains underfunded. Every donation truly does make a difference in the life of a child that has been affected by Childhood Cancer. While some of their funds are immediately dispersed for current and ongoing research, a portion of their funds are contributed to Isaac’s HOPE Fund for Curing Childhood Cancer, an Endowment Chair. It is their goal and hope of establishing an endowment chair to ensure that researchers have continued funding to keep studies going and keep disseminating what they’re learning –far beyond the University.
